Bunting

In 2017 after deciding to design and paint my own bunting for the garden I researched online various fabric painting techniques .

I bought 30 plain white linen flags and a set of fine waterproof fabric pens .

My first attempts were a detailed abstract pattern of a sun a strange comet cross lion creature and a weird flower, not sure where my imagination came from that day .

It was a beautifully sunny late summers day and I had drank nothing more than a glass of water, not a magic mushroom in sight !

I continued to draw in my usual speeded up manic way and finally had created rows and rows of bunting over the next couple of weeks .

My next aim was to create backgrounds before adding the design as filling in large areas with pens was both time consuming and costly.

This led me to checking out fabric paints and I bought again online the basic colours for my next row of bunting.

Painting backgrounds was exiting as I could now create watercolour effects and blend my pen strokes into the background , finally creating layers until I achieved the desired effect .

The first bunting I designed for a couple of customers was still quite basic as I was in the process of developing my own style , they were a set of flower fairies and wildlife themes a year later in 2018.

I prefer realistic detailed art and abstract does not come natural to me but I am always willing to try all styles .

I loved the bunting you did for me as a gift for my Bowie mad partner - he was amazed how it went in chronological order and the attention to detail - Thanks Lynne you're a 🌟
